What is laser skin rejuvenation
Laser skin SSR

Time takes a toll on your skin. But thanks to advances in skin care, individuals have several options to choose from to improve your skin and complexion. Laser skin rejuvenation is one non-surgical option to improve minor issues with your skin. The gentle treatment stimulates the formation of new collagen fibers. This has a visible smoothing effect on lines. Light energy is converted into heat. The energy this produces focuses on the deeper layers of the dermis, which contain the tear-proof collagen fibers and elastic fibers. The treatment stimulates the skin cells to start producing skin-tautening collagen and elastin again. The result is healthy, young and fresh-looking skin.

Aesthetic Benefits

As you age, wrinkles and fine lines form while other skin imperfections can arise due to genetics, sun damage and lifestyle habits (e.g., smoking, diet). Laser skin rejuvenation is able to treat a range of skin concerns and offers the following aesthetic benefits: • Improved skin tone and texture • Reduced pore sizes • Improved appearance of acne scarring, liver spots and age spots • Younger-looking, healthier skin • Smooths out wrinkles and fine lines • Laser skin rejuvenation can be used to treat the neck and facial areas including the delicate skin around the eyes and mouth. Stimulates Collagen Laser skin rejuvenation procedures and therapies work differently from surgical cosmetic procedures. Surgical procedures like facelift and eyelid surgery alter the superficial tissues and skin to create a younger-looking appearance. Laser skin rejuvenation procedures target cells that lie beneath the upper layers of the skin to promote collagen regeneration. Collagen is the protein responsible for tight, elastic skin. By promoting the collagen regeneration process, laser skin rejuvenation improves one’s skin health and beauty. Minimally Invasive Unlike surgical procedures, laser treatments do not require incisions, bandages and general anesthesia. As a result, laser treatments come with less potential risks and complications than surgical procedures. Laser skin rejuvenation does come with minor side effects that typically dissipate within a few days after treatment. Side effects include swelling and redness. I will go over the side effects and rare complications of your treatment in detail with you during a personal consultation. Laser treatments can also be performed with little to virtually no pain. Many laser treatments have a built in cooling mechanism that protects tissue and skin and keeps patients comfortable during sessions. Minimal Downtime Surgical procedures like facelift are effective but do require some downtime. Patients should expect to take a week or two off from work and normal activities. With facelift and other surgical options, the final results can take up to a year to become visible. Laser skin rejuvenation procedures typically do not require any downtime. The results from laser treatments are visible almost immediately after the procedure and continue to improve in the ensuing days and weeks. Cost Effective Laser skin treatments come with no surgical, anesthesia or facility fees, unlike surgical procedures. Because of this, many patients find laser skin treatments a great and affordable option for rejuvenating the skin.

What is SSR Skin Rejuvenation

You may have heard of IPL and laser skin rejuvenation, but what is it really? At Blush Lash & Nail Bar, I offer skin rejuvenation through SSR – “Super Skin Rejuvenation” which is the latest advancement in IPL and laser technology brought together for optimal results. SSR offers faster and more effective photo rejuvenation of the skin by emitting a sequence of low energy light pulses. This non-invasive skin treatment delivers optimized levels of energy to stimulate collagen production and tighten fibroblasts to give you a glowing and tightening complexion.

Benefits of SSR Skin Rejuvenation

SSR corrects uneven skin tone, reduces fine wrinkles and minimizes pores. Super Skin Rejuvenation replaces skin imperfections and concerns with newer, younger-looking skin. The advanced technology behind SSR provides a deeper and more effective treatment with minimized chances of trauma to the skin. This gentle approach means that there is no downtime and clients can immediately return to their normal daily routines.

SSR Acne Management Acne management targets acne-prone skin to kill acne bacteria, reduce inflammation and break-outs for a clearer, more balanced and healthier looking complexion. Recommended treatments spaced 1-3 weeks apart. Recommended dietary changes and home skincare for optimal results. SSR Pigmentation/Freckles/Age/liver Spots Pigmentation correction effectively fades and removes age spots, freckles, sun spots and discoloration to greatly improve overall skin tone, texture and radiance. Further lightening post treatment will also occur over the following months via the lymphatic system. 2-6 treatments are recommended 3 weeks apart Benign skin pigmentation's can also be treated very efficiently using SSR’s laser technology. When excessive pigments are exposed to this treatment, the dark skin pigment in the skin (melanin) converts SSR’s highly energetic pulsed light into heat. This conversion of energy causes the pigment to clot. As a result, the melanin flocculates (gathers in small clumps) and is “drawn” to your outer layer of your skin. The problem pigment is then shed in the form of tiny skin flakes. This "flaking" or "coffee ground" takes time can happen in 24 hours or take weeks. You just need to have patience it will happen. SSR Capillary/Redness /Rosacea / Spider Veins Reduce redness, improve texture and tone, reduce capillary activity, encourage collagen synthesis. Spider veins, broken capillaries, red spots and rosacea can all be reduced or eradicated to offer a more uniform complexion. Rosacea will require maintenance and product support for home depending on severity. 2-6 treatments are recommended 3 weeks apart. Problems such as vascular lesions and thread veins can be cosmetically – and safely – removed using SSR treatments. The technology’s controlled light pulse is absorbed by the dark-red, oxygen-rich blood of the problem vessel and converted into heat. This energy conversion causes the blood to clot and the vessel to weld shut. Your body’s lymphatic system breaks down the coagulated blood and transports it away naturally.

Is Super Skin Rejuvenation the right treatment for me

If you are concerned with the appearance of fine wrinkles, brown spots, broken capillaries and other signs of sun damage, I highly recommend SSR. Prior to every treatment, I consult each of my clients to assess their skin type and devise a treatment plan which delivers the best results. If you would like to start your SSR journey or find out more, contact me today!

How long does Super Skin Rejuvenation  (SSR    laser treatment take to work

(                                              )

You should reap benefits immediately after each SSR session, although results are cumulative and repeat sessions will likely be required. The effects of the treatment also continue to work over the successive weeks and months. I will discuss this with you during your initial consultation. Please also refer to “How many treatments are needed?” further down the page.

What is the downtime of SSR Laser Treatment?

There is no downtime with Super Skin Rejuvenation (SSR) procedures. However, you do need to stay out of the sun two weeks prior to a treatment and for two weeks after your treatment. Your skin is sensitive to the sun.

Does SSR Laser Treatment hurt?

You may experience warm or tingling sensations, or a fleeting “hot pinch” during treatment, but  Super Skin Rejuvenation is otherwise painless and relatively short.

How many SSR Laser Treatments are needed?

The number of SSR treatments will vary depending on the issues you are treating. I will help create the best treatment plan for you and monitor your progress during free reviews. Facial rejuvenation treatments are generally conducted as a course of six to eight sessions with approximately one to two weeks in between. The collagen continues to develop for 8 to 12 weeks, so you will continue to see the effects over this time. The course can then be followed with a maintenance treatment after around once a month. Maintaining an appropriate skincare regimen at home is also required for optimizing results. Again, you will be advised on this at your consultation depending on your needs. Pigmentation, age spots and rosacea all require a course of three treatments to treat the area. In most instances this will be enough, on occasions, you may need an extra single treatment. Similarly, thread veins require a course of three treatments. Again, in most instances this will be enough, but on occasions you may need an extra single treatment.

Follow-up Super Skin Rejuvenation treatments

It takes approximately 4 weeks for skin to recover, so one visit per 3-4 weeks is the most you can expect. For optimal results, treatments are recommended every 3-4 weeks. Treatments performed more frequently should be reserved for patients with particularly bad acne scars, as well as severe sagging and wrinkling.

How does SSR Rejuvenate the skin?

Pulses of safe, filtered light penetrate the epidermis, or top layer of the skin targeting the dermis underneath where the melanin and hemoglobin reside. The affected cells are destroyed and either absorbed via the lymphatic system or removed by the body (micro crusting). A beneficial side effect of this treatment is the stimulation of collagen production, improving skin texture and fine lines and restoring the skin to a more youthful state. Skin takes 28 to rejuvenate and repair cells, therefore results may be less visible at times.

Medication and products must be avoided with SSR

Certain medications, supplements, creams and other products can increase your photosensitivity or wound healing and skin integrity therefor must be avoided during your SSR treatments. • Citrus essential oils within body and face creams = stop two days prior • St Johns Wort- Herbal remedy or prescribed = stop one-three months prior • Oral retinols, Vitamin A eg. Laser skin IPL
What is Intense pulsed light therapy  (IPL)?

(     )

Intense pulsed light therapy (IPL), most often referred to simply as IPL, is often held up as an incredible example of laser skincare technology. It’s an incredible tool in combating sun damage and reversing natural wear and tear on our skin.

Fight photoaging with IPL therapy

Ok, the basics.

IPL is a treatment that rejuvenates the skin of adults with hyperpigmentation, redness, age spots, and broken capillaries on their face and neck—all signs of photoaging (premature skin aging and damage caused by sun exposure).

IPL is not an invasive procedure, but is still known for producing amazing results. Intense pulsed light therapy sends wavelengths of light that warm the skin just enough to set off the natural regeneration process and boost collagen production. As the increase in collagen takes effect, you should see a healthier layer with a more even tone and decreased spots of pigmentation.

How does IPL work?

Broad spectrum pulsed light is transmitted through a continuously cooled applicator handpiece. Cut-off filters in the handpiece change the range of wavelengths, optimizing the light for different applications and skin types.

The light penetrates the tissue into the deeper layers. This energy targets and is absorbed by something called chromophore. Chromophores are responsible for the color of a compound—aka, they are the culprits behind your hyperpigmentation. When they absorb the light energy, it damages the chromophores so they break up and can be flushed from your body through its natural regenerative processes.

The light energy also boosts your natural healing processes and collagen production. Once it is all said and done, you end up with clearer skin that is more even and youthful looking!

What does IPL treat?

What does IPL treat?

With intense pulsed light therapy, you will get noticeable improvements in the following signs of photoaging:

・Fine Lines

・Sun Spots

・Freckles

But IPL is for a lot more than superficial sun damage. It can also tackle serious, deep tissue issues. Like:

・Spider Veins

・Broken Capillaries

・Hyperpigmentation

Most notably, it’s proven super effective for rosacea treatments

Best candidates for intense pulsed light therapy

Ideal candidates for an IPL photofacial may have sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, rough texture, large pores, flushing, freckles, age, sun spots, or spider veins.

I will assess your skin to see if you are a candidate for an IPL treatment during your private consultation.

Will one IPL treatment make a difference?

There are many benefits of photofacials, even with just one treatment. IPL won’t make hyperpigmentation, spider veins, or sun spots disappear after your first appointment, but most clients report improvements in the tone and condition of their skin.

Ideal results typically come from 4 to 6 treatments, maintained with proper skin care and protection from the sun.

The great thing is that IPL literally kicks your skin into anti-aging mode, so after years of treatments, you’ll actually look like you’re aging backward!

Is IPL safe for my skin?

There is minimal risk of skin damage resulting from intense pulsed light therapy. The whole point of this treatment is to reverse damaged conditions! IPL photofacials are non-invasive and gentle enough for a variety of skin types and tones.

I also ensure your candidacy for this skin treatment during your consultation prior to treatment!

Are IPL results permanent?

When it comes to any anti-aging or damage-reversing treatment, there are no permanent results. With time, you will continue to age naturally. IPL does keep your skin looking and feeling younger and with proper skincare, you can keep your skin from photoaging for quite some time.

If you’re using IPL to treat deeper skin concerns, such as wrinkles and skin laxity, results will last as long as the collagen production increase is in effect. Our expert aesthetic team helps determine what the ideal frequency for treatments would be to keep your wrinkles at bay.

Is IPL a laser facial?

Nope! It can be easy to assume IPL is a laser facial because, at first glance, the procedures look similar. They both involve a hand piece that we use on your skin. You may be surprised to learn, however, there is actually a vast difference in the types of light energy used between laser and intense pulsed light therapy.

Laser treatments utilize monochromatic light, typically infrared light. IPL treatments utilize broadband light, which includes all light energies in the color spectrum. What this means is the laser is a far more focused light energy than the “scattered” IPL light.

The IPL treatment, therefore, provides a gentler option for anyone who wants to tackle sun damage without the downtime often associated with laser facials. Laser facials also tend to be more targeted toward specific skin concerns, whereas IPL facials tackle photoaging more broadly.

Follow-up IPL treatments

While you should see visible results after the first session, your skin will attain the best results after several photofacial treatments. I recommend approximately 4 to 6 treatments scheduled about 3 weeks apart. When you come in for your consultation and first IPL appointment, I will make sure you have a thorough understanding of what to expect and the timeline of your results.

Side Effects of IPL

One of the best things about intense light therapy is the lack of a recovery period! You will leave your appointment with skin that’s a little red and swollen and that will go down by itself in about a day. I recommend clients use an ointment on the skin to decrease irritation and speed healing. It also helps to take anti-inflammatory medication to help decrease swelling.

After several days, the irregularities that once rested under the skin will come to the surface and then begin to flake off. It is necessary to keep your skin protected from the sun at all times after an IPL photofacial treatment and to not pick at your skin while it heals!

Here’s how your Laser treatment will go at Blush Studios.

'

No matter whether you’re just here for a photofacial, or seeking rosacea treatments, all of my laser procedures are always safe and effective. The Consultation - Before receiving any treatment, meet with me for a free consultation, so I can ensure you are a candidate and we can get a baseline analysis. During that time I'll do a detailed health history and skin analysis. That way I can cater your treatment to best fit you. You will complete all the necessary paperwork and do your test shot. We will develop a treatment plan, determine the best laser treatment for you and schedule all your treatment appointments and get you ready for your first visit. We will also go over any questions you have along with pre and post treatment care. The Treatment - I perform photofacials inside my spa room. The treatment time takes about 20 to 30 minutes. To start the procedure, I will clean and dry the skin to be treated. I will prep the skin with gel, and provide safety goggles before beginning. Then, I administer the treatment using a handheld device that passes over the skin while emitting light energy. Depending on the type of laser used you may feel some discomfort during the photofacial, it is generally tolerable for the quick treatment time. During treatment the device will flash as I apply it to different areas of the skin. The handpiece has a cooling tip for comfort during the procedure. The Results - Depending on the laser used; with IPL expect your skin to be warm and have redness immediacy after treatment, but it will subside with 1-2 hours. With SSR your skin may to be warm but will subside with an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours, pigmented spots will darken before they slough off. If facial veins were targeted, you will notice they may change colors for a few days before fading or could have immediate change with more improvement in the weeks to come.

Next steps after treatment

I will provide you with recommendations on how you can help your skin heal after a laser resurfacing treatment. The top rule is to not pick or peel your skin. This could create lasting damage and/or impact your results.

While recovering from your laser treatments, whether for photoaging or as a component of rosacea treatments, you should skip all hair removal methods. At least in the treatment area. That means no shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams. No mater what method you choose, it is recommend 2-6 treatments to achieve your skin care goals

I will also provide serums and restorative ointments to help soothe and heal your skin!

Laser E Light
What is E light

E-LIGHT is the next generation of technology which combines the advantages of IPL and radio frequency (electromagnetic waves) for permanent hair reduction for all skin and hair colors (dark, grey, red and blond), showing good results with no side-effects. E-light is effective regardless of the amount of melanin in the treatment area. That is, no matter how dark or light the skin is, the energy will reach the deeper layers of the skin. Side effects are almost nonexistent, in a few cases, there is a slight redness that disappears quickly. It is a painless treatment; however you might feel an occasional pinch depending on your individual sensitivity.

E-light technology on my machine now means I can also treat even light and red hairs which can not be treated with IPL or SHR technology. Because they are attracted to color this means that usually those who have little to no color in their hair had to settle for less permanent solutions such as waxing and sugaring but with E-light I can now treat all hair colors with technology which heats simultaneously at the top and the bottom to stop blood supply to the hair follicle and it can all be done in the same time it takes to do a standard IPL treatment.

How does E light work

First, the handheld touches the skin, which begins to cool. Then, Pulsed Light pre-heat the area to be depilated. Finally, IPL and radio frequency work together on the dermis and epidermis. In a split second, the energy is transmitted through each hair down to its root. The sudden rise in temperature causes the hair to separate from its follicle. Thus you can slow down the hair growth and take care of the skin at the same time.

IPL combined with E-light Hair Reduction

For blonde, red and light brown hair I am able to combine IPL with E-light technology to deliver bulk heating to the bulb of the hair. Although this treatment is effective on lighter hair types the hair must have some pigment to be effective and will require more treatments than the standard IPL/SHR treatments.

How is the E-Light system different from other laser systems?

The E-Light system is the only system that can rejuvenate the skin and get rid of the “Peach Fuzz” (tiny white and blonde hairs) that other lasers miss.

The E-Light technology is also wonderful for rejuvenating the skin of the face, neck, chest, and arms.

E-Light uses optical energy to heat the hair shaft, combined with radio frequency, which heats and coagulates the follicle itself. The radio frequency is safer because it is not affected by skin color.

What areas can be treated with E-Light?

Because this E-Light treats hundreds of hairs at a time, it is easy to treat smaller or larger areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs, face, and neck. Best of all, hair removal with RF energy is a safe, fast, gentle, and effective method for hair removal for all skin types, including darkly pigmented skin. E-Light produces the desired hair loss without any of the potential side effects seen with other laser systems. E-Light is also wonderful for rejuvenating the skin of the face, neck, chest, and arms. Photorejuvenation is achieved with E-light when Pulsed Light is emitted in a wide frequency range, so it can treat several features of an aged skin. Thanks to the Pulsed Light, it is possible to reduce pigmented spots and little veins. On the one hand, it works by reducing the intensity of sunspots. On the other hand, it acts on the superficial capillaries, caused them to collapse so they are no longer visible through the skin. Finally, this treatment stimulates collagen generation, improving skin texture, and reducing pore size and fine wrinkles. ・For wrinkle reduction/removal this treatment stimulates skin fibroblasts to generate more collagen, improving their appearance and reducing wrinkles and fine lines ・For acne E- light System acts directly on the sebaceous glands that are secreting fat, reducing acne very effectively in the treated area. In addition, as it stimulates the generation of collagen, the treated area will recover better from the aftermath. ・Vascular E-light treatment is ideal for targeting surfaced capillaries that are causing the appearance of redness. This includes broken capillaries, spider veins any red spots, and rosacea. The treatment works by using light energy as heat to target the surfaced capillaries and cause coagulation. Ultimately this will result in reduced blood flow and therefore lessened redness in the skin. ・With pigmentation treatments it reduces skin blemishes even in sensitive areas such as the face or hands. The E-light acts on melanin, the pigment that gives color to our skin.

How many treatments will I need?

Skin rejuvenation treatments are administered every four weeks. Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication, metabolism, and sun exposure all play a part in your skin’s condition. The number of skin rejuvenation treatments depends on the area treated, your expectations, and your goals. Usually, 3-5 treatments are sufficient.

Hair removal usually requires multiple treatments. For some people 2-3 treatments are sufficient; however, black or white hair responds at different rates and depends on your individual hair type. Though hair will reduce and become finer with each treatment. Most clients receive treatments until they achieve their desired results.

Treatments to the face should be spaced 2-4 weeks apart while body treatments should be spaced 4 weeks apart. Facial hair will take 7-10 days to fall out while body hair may take 2-3 weeks. Individual results will depend on your skin type, hair coarseness and natural growth cycle.

How many treatments will I need for vascular?

E-Light vascular will vary from person to person however generally 3-6 treatments are recommended. A maintenance treatment may also be needed 6 months after the course of treatments is completed. However some people only require a single treatment, this can be determined through consultation.

Is there any downtime?

No, there is no downtime. There may be some temporary redness however this is expected to pass within an hour and can easily be covered with a tinted sunscreen or makeup. However you will need to be out of the sun for two weeks before and after your treatment.

How long will the results last?

No, there is no downtime. There may be some temporary redness however this is expected to pass within an hour and can easily be covered with a tinted sunscreen or makeup. However you will need to be out of the sun for two weeks before and after your treatment.

Benefits of E-light:

・Shrink pores; improving the appearance and reducing wrinkles and fine lines ・It can remove all unwanted white, gray, blonde, brown, black, and red hair. ・Improve eye bags, remove dark circles ・It works on all skin types. ・E-Light provides lasting results. ・It is effective on any area of the body where smoother, younger-looking, hair-free skin is desired. ・Improve gray skin color, whitening skin ・Tighten the doubles and neck wrinkles ・Lift and Tighten the skin from RF ・Acts directly on the sebaceous glands that are secreting fat, reducing acne very effectively in the treated area ・Targeting surfaced capillaries that are causing the appearance of redness ・Stimulate collagen regeneration, increase blood circle

Common treatment areas include
Laser reduction

・Legs

・Underarms

・Bikini area

・Upper lip

・Chin

Light therapy targets hair pigment in the bulb of the hair follicle.

When your hair follicles absorb the light, the energy converts to heat, destroying the growth centers inside. That means you get long-term results with little to no pain.

Since hair grows in cycles, I always recommend going through a series of treatments to maximize your amazing hair-removal benefits.

In fact, laser hair removal is effective in removing 80 to 90% of hair in treated areas. Once light destroys the follicles, your skin will be smoother than ever!

How it works:

The Consultation - Before receiving your laser hair removal treatment, meet with me for a free consultation. During that time I'll examen your unwanted hair, including tone, texture and thickness. That way I can cater your treatment to best fit you. You will then complete all the necessary paperwork and do your test shot. We will schedule out your treatment plan and get you ready to go. The Treatment - I use only the best technology for laser hair removal treatments. Computer-guided programing automated the process, so that your treatments quick, efficient and optimized for your skin. Pulses of light penetrate your skin to effectively destroy hair follicles. Depending om the size of your treatment area(s), the treatment may take anywhere between 10 to 60 minutes. The Results - Hair could take 1 to 2 weeks to fall away, but I always recommend multiple treatments to continue with hair loss. Most of my clients receive 4 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

What is Super Hair Reduction (SHR) and is it better than IPL?

(                                        )

Let’s face it — hair removal is a pain (often both literally and figuratively). For most of us, we tend to reach out for our shavers or waxes to weed out the unsightly hair on different parts of our bodies. But if there’s anything we’ve learned from these experiments, it’s that at-home hair removal products are often not the best long-term solutions. On the other hand, there are other effective treatments like IPL (Intense Pulse Light) for hair removal, but the only setback is the pain that it comes with for some. But there’s another treatment that might just be more effective and painless than the latter. Super Hair Removal.

Otherwise known as SHR, this hair removal process is the newest and latest treatment in town. There is quite a difference between the two treatments. Unlike IPL, the SHR is painless, comfortable and there is zero downtime. IPL has a snapping rubberband feel to it for some clients. Both take the same amount of time to complete.

What is Super Hair Reduction (SHR)?

(      )

SHR is an FDA approved permanent hair removal technology. It is well-loved for its effectiveness, enhanced comfort, and minimal trauma on the skin. As such, SHR is an ideal choice for even the most sensitive areas like Brazilian. Performed using gliding motions, SHR can cover larger areas and evenly spread out the heat energy emitted into the skin, keeping the skin’s surface cool throughout the procedure.

How is SHR different from IPL?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Hair Removal and SHR (Super Hair Remover) are both permanent hair removal methods, but SHR trumps when it comes to comfort, results, and convenience. IPL uses conventional high-intensity light pulses to target melanin, whereas SHR uses low fluence pulses at a higher frequency. As such, IPL’s high-intensity light pulses may increase the risk of skin burns and the sensation is not as comfortable. On the other hand, the skin is heated more gently during SHR, keeping skin trauma at bay. SHR’s cool touch technology also enhances customer’s comfort, making it an ideal choice for sensitive areas such as Brazilian. IPL’s light is mainly absorbed by melanin pigments in dark coarse hair. For fine, light colored hair, the lack of melanin means light is not absorbed as much. Thus, this may render the treatment to be less effective. The wavelengths of light in SHR not only gets absorbed by melanin but also by the hair-producing stem cells in the skin. As such, SHR can target both dark coarse hair and fine light hair, stopping the regeneration of these hair follicles. As the hair removal treatment progresses, the customer’s hair will change from dark and coarse to fine and light. It is important to find a technology like SHR to target both types of hair, so the customer can get the best result from the beginning to the end. While IPL treatments require a session once every two to three weeks, customers only need to go for monthly SHR sessions. At Blush Lash and Nail Bar SHR on average only needs 5 to 6 sessions for best results, but each person responds differently and can require more treatments. Each session ranges between 10 to 30 minutes – perfect for slotting in a quick session in between a busy schedule.

Is SHR more painful than IPL?

In comparison to IPL, SHR is definitely more comfortable and especially so for those with darker skin tones, or for those who want to do treatment on delicate areas like Brazilian. IPL uses conventional high-intensity light pulses to target melanin, whereas SHR uses low fluence pulses at a higher frequency. IPL’s high-intensity light pulses might increase customer’s risk of skin burns and the sensation is not as comfortable. For SHR, the skin is heated more gently, keeping skin trauma at bay. SHR’s cool touch technology also enhances customer’s comfort, providing a slight numbing effect to the treated area so customers can breeze through the treatment with as little sensation as possible.

How many SHR treatments are necessary for effective hair Reduction?

I advise my clients to complete a total of 6 treatments, every 4-6 weeks, on a varying pattern,  to see the best permanent hair reduction results at Blush Studios Clients will see their hair turning finer and their hair growth slowing down after the second or third session.

After the full treatment, I still encourage clients to come back once every few months for “maintenance” to sustain the good results and keep the “wild weeds at bay”. A small number of clients might still experience some hair regrowth due to factors like genetics, hormones, and stress. Clients who have completed their SHR with me can enjoy 50% off for maintenance. Choosing a professional and responsible salon as a partner in your hair removal journey is important. So far, my clients love the results and effectiveness of my SHR, and I am happy to hear their positive feedbacks.

What do you need to do before the treatment to get the best results from SHR?

SHR is most effective during our hair’s active growth phase (anagen stage) so shaving a day before the treatment or just before the hair removal treatment is highly recommended. If clients have just completed a waxing session, they should only embark on their SHR treatment 3 weeks later. Outdoor exercise and activities which include sun-tanning/sun exposure should also be avoided prior to treatment for 2 WEEKS BEFORE AND 2 WEEKS AFTER EACH TREATMENT.

no sun
What do you need to do after the treatment for the best results?

For best results and to prevent skin irritation, clients are given a list of aftercare instructions after their treatment. In the next 24 to 72 hours after the treatment, clients should:

・Avoid exercising, pools, spas, and saunas as the hair follicles are prone to sensitivity after treatment. These activities can also potentially allow chlorine

and/or bacteria to irritate the skin.

・Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks post-treatment. SHR can potentially cause photosensitivity resulting in sun damage.

・Avoid plucking, tweezing or waxing in between treatments.

・Avoid any physical/chemical exfoliation to prevent skin irritation on the treated area(s). Using products that contain active ingredients (e.g.,

AHA/BHA/Vitamin C/Retinols on the treated area(s) may cause skin irritation).

・Avoid potential sun damage by applying sufficient amounts of sunscreen.

Does it work for all skin types?

In general, SHR is suitable for all skin types as it uses low fluence pulses at a higher frequency. I will just need to use the right setting based on the client’s skin tone and ethnicity.

Does SHR affect your hair regrowth cycle (texture, etc)?

(               , )

SHR will slow down or prevent hair growth altogether, allowing customers to live a fuzz-free life so they can wear their favorite summer clothes without any worry. Hair will also become lighter and finer.

Are there any side effects or downtime after the SHR treatment?

SHR is an FDA-approved permanent hair removal technology. There are no side effects or downtime after the treatment. It’s a quick treatment mostly ranging between 10 to 30 minutes and customers can go about their normal activity after the treatment, as long as it is not contradictory to our aftercare instructions. Proper aftercare and consistent monthly treatments (for at least six sessions) are necessary to attain the best results.
